Rend Collective – Campfire II: Simplicity

In October of this year, Rend Collective released a new album titled Campfire II: Simplicity. You probably got this from the title, but the general idea of the album was to record stripped-down, acoustic versions of songs around a campfire. Most of the songs featured on this album were previously from their The Art of Celebration and As Family We Go albums. But, it also features two new tracks, as well as a re-imagined version of Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) originally by Hillsong United.

img_03f11920b4e5-1Here I am, on a Saturday afternoon, sitting in a coffee shop (Blue Bottle in Palo Alto, if you’re wondering) just penning my thoughts down. It’s been a whirlwind these past few weeks – which explains my absence from this blog. Having to juggle personal stuff, school (it’s midterm season!), an internship, leadership responsibilities with a Christian Fellowship on campus, and serving on a worship team is no easy task. My Top 5 Go-To Songs

I know that there are certain songs that I will always go back to whenever I need a spiritual pick-me-up. It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve listened to that same song, I either always feel like God is saying something new to me through it, or I’m reminded of how I experienced God through that song the first time I heard it and how I continue to experience Him through it even now. This morning, Hillsong UNITED appeared on The Today Show again, where they were briefly interviewed by hosts Kathie Lee and Hoda about their trip to Israel where they recorded their latest album, Of Dirt And Grace.

They also mentioned the release of their movie, Hillsong: Let Hope Rise which is to be released in cinemas nationwide in a few weeks. Finally, they of course did not leave without performing a song of theirs. This time, the band chose to grace the audience with a shortened version of their hit song, Oceans (Where Feet May Fail).
